Two Point Campus to get mod support, beta coming soon

Just last night, a Two Point County blog post announced that Two Point Campus would soon be receiving mod support. The sequel to Two Point Hospital, the academic management simulator, is already a huge improvement over its predecessor, as mentioned in my Two Point Campus review.

Considering that Two Point will support campus mods “very soon” I was a little pleased. What’s already a fun game that constantly poke fun at teachers, students, and general science now gets even better with custom content support.

If you need a reminder of what you’re getting into, watch the Two Point Campus trailer here.

In the blog post, Two Point Studios shares, “In our previous game, Two Point Hospital, we enabled Steam Workshop and had the ability for players to create their own custom wallpapers, carpets, and so on. However, we wanted to take this a little further in Two Point Campus, so for the first time ever, we’re going to be allowing players to mod actual in-game items!”

What is different this time, however, is that Two Point Campus will not be using a Steam Workshop. Alternatively, Two Point Studios has partnered with “to enable cross-platform mods for our PC and console gamers.” So no matter what platform you play on, you can enjoy mods in your game if you wish. This is already a huge improvement over Two Point Hospital, whose mods were limited to custom content only on PC.

“We will work on the modding in different phases,” says the studio. “The first stage is item modding. If all goes well, we’ll start exploring what other areas of the game we can do to give you more options to customize your experience in unique and interesting ways.”

Sounds good to me! It’s been a while since I last jumped into Two Point Campus, but I’ll no doubt be back with the introduction of mods just to see what extra chaos I can wreak on campus. As The Sims player that I am, building and customizing each campus is also so satisfying.

There is no release date for Two Point Campus mod support yet, but it will be going into a small beta test “very soon on Steam” with experienced modders. Two Point Studios then noted that if you happen to be a modder, or know someone who is, you should email them and get involved. Full details on how to contact Two Point Studios regarding this can be found in the announcement blog post.

As for those who have a more accepting or exiting approach to modding, the studio also said there will be “a lot more to talk about soon.”

What do you think of the introduction of mod support for Two Point Campus? I’m excited of course, but would you rather see something else come into play instead? Two Point Campus to get mod support, beta coming soon
