Trump ready to burn everything down if he doesn’t get his way with GOP: NYT Reporter

That Republican Party can be girded for a Brutal internal war amidst the debris of his midterm elections – and donald trump is ready to “burn it all down” if he can’t keep the GOP in check, a New York Times reporter predicts Maggie Haberman.

Who or what remains after such a collision is anything but clear, she remarked on Friday.

The fall is likely to begin next week, when Trump is expected to announce he is running for president again, even against the advice of some of his allies. Trump has already destroyed key potential rivals, including the Florida governor. Ron DeSantis and possibly Glenn Youngkin, Governor of Virginia and former Vice President Mike Pence.

Trump is now “vulnerable” to internal attack following the Republican Party’s dismal showing in the midterms — but “it’s happened before and he survived,” Haberman pointed out in a series of tweets.

“Extremely few big donors … want to do anything for him right now, and some of them are in active conversations about the best way to stop him,” she added. “But. Again…does that sound familiar?”

Still, the party seems poised to brush Trump aside to improve Republicans’ chances of future ballot box victories.

Trump, meanwhile, has made it clear that if he doesn’t get what he wants, he’s ready to “burn everything down, leading to his grip on the product line he’s been developing for the last six years: the Republican Party,” according to the report Haberman warned.

The party, meanwhile, looks almost as heartless and calculating as Trump, commentator Chris Wallace noted Friday on CNN.

He criticized the party for only now finally distancing itself from Trump long after he instigated the insurgency and repeatedly spread fake election lies. What was ultimately decisive? “Republican candidates came off 10 points worse,” Wallace said.

“In the end, that seems to be what Republicans care about,” Wallace said. “It’s not about the principle. It’s not about the truth. It’s about who is the winner and who is the loser. Right now, for example, Ron DeSantis, who won a landslide win, looks like a winner, and Donald Trump… kinda looks like a loser.”
