Singer Aaron Carter was reportedly found dead at his home in Lancaster, California. He was 34.
TMZ was the first to tell law enforcement that they received a 911 call at 11 a.m. Saturday about a man who drowned in the bathtub.
When The Daily Beast asked Carter’s manager Roger Paul if the singer had died, he replied, “That’s what my mother told me.”
“As soon as we know, more information will be shared,” he said.
Tributes for the late singer have poured in on social media.
“RIP Aaron Carter. I just heard from a close friend of his that he was found unresponsive this morning,” podcaster Adam22 shared on Twitter. “I interviewed him just a few weeks ago and it was pretty clear he wasn’t in a good place. He was a good guy despite all the demons he was fighting.”
Carter rose to fame as a pop singer in the 1990s and released his self-titled debut album in 1997 when he was just 9 years old. He is the brother of Nick Carter from the Backstreet Boys and started in 1997 as the opening act for the Backstreet Boys on their tour.
A representative for Nick Carter confirmed this New York Post that the singer’s little brother had died.
Carter has been open about his addiction issues and has spent a few stints in rehab. Just days ago, the singer was pulled over on suspicion of drunk driving after dodging traffic, but was later cleared by the LAPD.
He is survived by his son Prince.
Carter’s rep didn’t immediately respond to calls from The Daily Beast on Saturday.
