Modern Warfare 2 fans are desperate for the Valderas Museum to return

In a post on r/ModernWarfareII, user Lew1989 shared an image of the Valderas Museum map, feeling it would be “a breath of fresh air” when the map returns. The multiplayer map included during map rotation Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 Beta, proved controversial among many players due to underutilization of large open spaces in some game modes. Some users who responded to the post were quick to note that there was no certainty the map would return, although others expressed a sincere desire for it to be included in the full game.

One of the biggest complaints about the Valderas Museum map during the Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 beta was that due to its expansive size, it could sometimes be difficult to find other players to fight during matches, a sentiment echoed in some replies to Lew1989’s post. Some commentators have speculated that the map’s removal may have been due to legal issues arising from its striking resemblance to the Getty Museum in Los Angeles. Infinity Ward was already facing controversy for using real-world locations in the game after Amsterdam’s Conservatorium Hotel appeared Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2‘s “Breenbergh” level without the permission of the hotel owners.

It remains to be seen if the Valderas Museum map will eventually return Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2. Though the map proved popular with some players, a combination of potential legal issues and complaints about the map layout could mean the beta was the only chance for players to explore the vast terrain. However, if the Valderas Museum does return to map rotation at some point, it could prove to be a great setting Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2‘s ranked mode when it launches in 2023.
