  • “Please support President Trump,” she said to DeSantis and all possible presidential candidates.

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene on Monday told Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis not to compete with former President Donald Trump for the White House amid speculation that the two GOP heavyweights will compete for the Republican presidential nomination in 2024 could compete against each other.

At a Trump rally in Ohio, Greene urged DeSantis to remain Florida governor, saying running for president meant he would “give up” his state. Trump was due to announce a presidential candidacy at Monday’s rally. Instead, he teased a “big announcement” he’ll be making on November 15.

Speaking of Trump’s potential White House campaign, Right Side Broadcasting Network host Brian Glenn told Greene at the rally, “If anybody steps into the political ring and tries to challenge President Trump as the Republican nominee for 2024, we feel like that it is political suicide. That’s his party, that’s his race.”

“Absolutely, I think it’s clear and obvious,” Greene replied.

“What we need in this country, Brian, is that we need strong Republican governors like Ron DeSantis,” she later said.

“We need strong Republican governors who will fight, stay in office for eight years and save their states, not leave their states and try to run for president or some other big position,” Greene added.

“My message is to everyone, everyone who is considering running for president in 2024 against President Trump, please support President Trump,” she said.

DeSantis has been seen as a strong frontrunner for the 2024 GOP presidential nomination for the past few months, though he hasn’t announced a campaign either. Greene’s rhetoric that DeSantis would “give up” his state by running for president was also used by his gubernatorial opponent, Democratic nominee Charlie Crist.

When Crist DeSantis asked at a political debate whether he would serve a full term if elected governor, DeSantis did not answer the question.

Greene and DeSantis representatives did not immediately respond to insider requests for comment.
