EA has struck a deal with Marvel that will see the developer and publisher develop three games based on its IP, one of which is the previously announced one iron man Game.
The two companies announced today (October 31) that they have joined forces in a long-term deal to develop “at least three new action games that will be available on consoles and PC.” Each of the games will feature original stories from the Marvel Universe, the first being the recently announced Iron Man title, which is in the works Motif Studiothe team behind the coming Empty room make new.
No details were provided as to what the other games will be about, the only thing that was confirmed was that they will all be action games. “We’re longtime fans of Marvel and their impressive leadership, so this is a remarkable moment for our developers, as well as our players and fans,” EA COO Laura Miele said in a statement. “We can’t wait to see players’ reactions as they dress up as Iron Man and do the extraordinary things this superhero is known for.”
The team behind the Iron Man game is led by Olivier Proulx, who has some experience with Marvel from working on Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy. In the untitled game, you’ll experience an original story that “taps into the history of Iron Man” where you can truly experience Tony Stark’s alter ego.
Insider Gaming reported yesterday (October 30) that playtests for the Iron Man game have started as of today, with this first playtest scheduled to end on November 2nd. As Insider Gaming noted, these playtests could be less like your average quality assurance session and more about trying to get feedback on things like plot points, gameplay mechanics, and more. Considering how recently the game was announced, it will likely be a while before we hear anything concrete.
