Core Keeper’s next update, The Desert of Beginnings, introduces karting and bug hunting

Core Keeper is a mining sandbox adventure for one to eight players with an adorable pixel art style. Alone or as part of a group, you’ll explore an ancient underground cave where you’ll need to mine, fight, and craft to survive.

As you play Core Keeper more, you’ll build a base, face monsters, grow crops, and pretty much everything else you’d expect from a mining sandbox title. However, the upcoming Core Keeper update plans to add even more activities for you and your friends to keep busy!

The upcoming update, dubbed The Desert of Beginnings, will be available for free on November 10th after the game launched in Early Access in March this year. What will the update include you ask?

Well, the update introduces a new biome aptly named Desert of Beginnings, a new sub-biome called Molten Quarry, and various new enemies, weapons, music, and base building options. Also two big new features being introduced are karting and bug hunting.

Karting is exactly what it sounds like. Players can discover a brand new ore called Galaxite and start crafting go-karts from there. As a result, players can cart through new biomes to their heart’s content.

To aid in exploring the new biomes and all they have to offer, an Insect Quest will be added to the game. Players can grab a bug net and then set off to find and capture critters across the land to form their own collection. This sounds a lot like Animal Crossing if you ask me, and I like the sound of it.

In addition to new weapons, equipment and tools, two new bosses will also be added to the game; there will be Igneous the Molten Mass and Ra-Akar the Sand Titan for you and your friends to compete with. In addition to all this new content, quality of life improvements have been made to Core Keeper and Steam Achievements have been added to the game.

Sven Thole, COO and Lead Animator of Pugstorm, says: “The Desert of Beginnings is by far our biggest update to Core Keeper yet and the one we’re most excited to discover. We listened very carefully to what players enjoy the most and what else they would like to see, and believe we’ve come a long way with this update to achieve that. We love the new gameplay possibilities that the go-karts offer and can’t wait to see how the community reacts to it.”

Core Keeper’s current Halloween event, the Creepy Costume Party, ends on November 5th. Just five days later, you can jump into Core Keeper’s Desert of Beginnings update and explore all the new content that’s waiting to be discovered.

Have you played Core Keeper or considered getting it? Let me know as I am currently quite tempted to try it myself.
